CyLumena, one of Pittsburgh’s fastest-growing cybersecurity firms, recently completed a five-week Lean Six Sigma (LSS) Green Belt virtual training for every employee. Each Green Belt trainee underwent 40 hours of classroom training, had to pass an exam, and lead a DMAIC ‘Green Belt Level’ project demonstrating the use of the LSS toolset.
Chris Dinnin, Managing Director, highlights the need for enterprise-wide training. “Our proprietary approach to data security risk assessment and cyber planning is called CyberLean. It requires a foundational understanding in Lean thinking, which we combine with robust security models like HITRUST, NIST, and others. When combined, these powerful methodologies uncover targeted risks and accelerate mitigation actions.”
“Lean Six Sigma is a method used to improve performance by systematically removing waste and reducing variation. Now, each of our employees are better equipped to apply these principles to security operations, allowing our clients to focus investment and eliminate waste,” stated Luke Wawrzeniak, Cybersecurity Senior Manager.
CyLumena leveraged the skills of Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belts David Keen and Tiffany Brown from sister-firm, SDLC Partners.
In addition to training the CyLumena employees, Mr. Keen and Ms. Brown provide Lean Six Sigma Green Belt training to clients through SDLC Partners. As part of SDLC’s Community Skill Up Program, they led a free introductory LSS virtual workshop for college-age students last summer.
CyLumena was created out of a growing need for reliable cybersecurity technology, support, and expert guidance in the Pittsburgh region and beyond.
Its mission is to help clients make cybersecurity investments that support an organization’s business objectives through a cost-effective combination of preparation and prevention called CyberLean.
